While thinking “I don’t know what will happen 20 years from now,” I spend my days peacefully. Record-breaking heavy rains continue, and on top of concerns about the Nankai Trough and direct earthquakes beneath the capital, plus Mount Fuji eruptions, there’s the relentless surge in prices…. In times like these where anything could happen, I’m determined to solidify the necessary preparations and then “make the most of life right now.” If I just drift through life, time flies by in a flash. Rather than be consumed by anxiety, I want to fully enjoy the present day with all my might.
Theme:Bike Factory’s Flood Prevention Measures Against Record Heavy Rains and Water Damage Risks
Threats We Face: Flash flooding and typhoon-related road inundation, rainwater seeping into pits, water damage to precision machinery, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools, and water damage to customer vehicles in our care.
Decoboco’s Three Pillars of Flood Prevention:
Physical Defense in Front of the Shutter: Deployment of removable water barriers and sandbags or water-absorbent bags.
Drainage Groundwork Around the Perimeter: Regular cleaning of gutters and fallen leaves, and re-confirmation of drainage slopes.
“Zero Floor Placement” Pit Layout: Vehicle elevation via hydraulic lifts, and high-position placement of electrical equipment, chargers, and compressor power sources.
Owner’s Comment: Flood prevention is exactly like “preventive maintenance” for motorcycles. Rather than scramble after something happens, we subtract risks down to zero before they occur. It’s an absolute requirement for a factory entrusted with customers’ precious assets!
Spread and install at the desired location → fill with water
Once filled with water, it becomes too heavy to move. *You can roll it though. The initial placement position is extremely important.
Open the water inlet screw and fill with water. *Don’t pull it out, be careful.
It’s best to fill with a longer hose. It takes a bit of time, so it’s somewhat tedious (*´ω`*)
20*25*365cm144Ltook about 7 minutes. It’s difficult and won’t be in time if you wait until rain starts, so early preparation is necessary.
It will roll if you don’t fold it
I can’t put weights on it, and according to the manufacturer’s website, they say “fold it down.” Folding = it gets shorter, which I hadn’t accounted for…
I thought it would sit better, but it’s subtle.
Well, butonce installed, the peace of mind is incredible (*´ω`*) And for short periods, it can also serve as a water tank, so it has high potential to be useful in emergencies.
I also installed a shorter one at my home’s crawl space access point.
We’ve never had flooding there, but we need to prepare for the “what if.” If the crawl space ever floods, it takes forever to dry, and you can imagine the subtle musty smell rising up. This water bag can shut that out, so I feel secure.
If it exceeds this, I guess I just have to give up.
I absolutely recommend this for motorcycle shops and car shops with large shutters. I wish I had suggested it sooner, since heavy rain is coming today and tomorrow…
And…Do you all have a submersible pump? I do. I’ve been using the 100V one for a long time, but this time I also purchased one that runs on a mobile battery. The 100V won’t work if there’s a power outage, so mobile is the best. I’ll introduce that one too.
