I’ve been obsessed with Makita lately? So…
Disk grinders don’t get used that often at our shop (*’▽’)
But you need one when you don’t have it, and there are times when you think “Ah, I wish I could have used it this way…”
It’s a hassle to test it out, but I tried using it lightly.
Cutting and grinding stones
When used, they create dust and scatter everywhere, so basically we don’t want to use them.
We don’t really want to use them for cutting frames and such, so we try to cut with an air saw as much as possible.
After that, we need them when blowing off chain tightening or when we need to grind heavily.
By adjusting the rotation speed, we can grind gradually.
It doesn’t generate intense heat and dust doesn’t fly as easily.
The brake function ensures the blade rotation stops completely, so grinding → checking → grinding → checking → grinding is very fast and safe.
I felt that rotation speed adjustment & brake are extremely effective.
Grinding disk
It’s made of layered paper and used when you want to gently grind the surface.
At our shop, it’s mostly aluminum, for example when we grind away the remainder after cutting the swing arm boss.
The rotation adjustment and brake are extremely useful here too.
First time using a cup wire brush
With a regular grinder, the rotation speed is constant at high speed, so I think grinding gradually and hair loss might be more common.
This grinder has rotation speed adjustment and decent torque, so it should be good when pressing down to polish corroded aluminum?
This also allows you to work while observing the situation: polish → brake → polish → brake.
I haven’t used it heavily, but I have a feeling it might be an eye-opening item.
I thought it would be better if it were lighter, but the opposite side of the rotating part is heavy, so the balance might actually be good?
