Shops that say custom OK must surely have an abundance of machine tools and materials!?
They should be able to flexibly handle consultations on exhaust modifications, steps, machined parts, and welding work.
I want to install a silencer in my favorite shape.
I want to remake an exhaust bracket whose shape I don’t like.
The position of off-the-shelf steps doesn’t satisfy me.
I think a custom shop is one that takes those kinds of wishes and makes them come true.
There are also shops that don’t do everything in-house = meaning outsourcing exists.

In the past, they wouldn’t deal with you unless you went through a bike shop, but in recent years with the spread of the internet, they’re surprisingly!? kind!? people.
Some places will even deal with you directly, so it might be worth throwing your ideas at those kinds of places too.
The telephone game causes the most trouble!?

I think the best approach is to consult directly, face to face.
This definitely applies to paint and seat work—you should definitely deal directly.
