When I brake hard, there’s no problem, but on the street you don’t usually press that hard.
When brake disk unevenness develops, surface grinding is an option, but replacement is another good move!
The braking becomes smooth and the feel is much better.

Lately they’re becoming an endangered species, or at least critically declining.
The oil-cooled 1200 series is in danger.
It’s not that the disk is bent or warped. It’s fascinating how the condition of the disk surface creates this kind of feel.
We’ll replace it with a solid Sunstar disk. (Of course, disk and pad should be replaced as a set—that’s the way to go.)
It looks clean and handsome now.
When you have new disks and pads, we do a test ride with pretty firm braking to bed them in. It’s a matter of heating, cooling, heating, cooling…
When you brake hard and get them seated properly, you’ll have brakes that really bite.
Dragging to break them in isn’t recommended, so avoid that.
