I was filming video, so the photos are a bit light.
Both inside and outside are sparkling clean—feels great!
An overview of the carburettor is introduced here.

A mysterious unnumbered needle. And it has a pinched shape in the middle.
Looks like stainless steel too.
I can kind of understand the desire to do this when the BST air cleaner box is removed.

Plus an unnumbered NJ… is that even possible? Would anyone really go this far?
The mystery deepens. *Let’s try not to investigate too much and just leave it alone.

The pitch looks the same, but the MJ has a different outer diameter. It looks like Keihin for a moment, but it’s not.
*This is a comparison with Mikuni.

I wonder what this is… usually they have slits in them.
The mystery runs deep.

The slide valve had packing in it. It looks like it got pretty stuck.
I washed the diaphragm with neutral detergent.

Bandit 1200 BSR idle adjuster (nicknamed remote control)
The length is perfect! It’s great, but I can’t use it as-is.

The float chamber has no mounting boss
The screw section top is short (can’t adjust)
—a nice? configuration.
Using it as-is without modification isn’t boring, right?

Weld a boss to the float chamber.
•
Fix it to a dummy carb and preheat before welding thin castings to thick parts.
It’s better to avoid melting the base material (carb side) as much as possible.
*Castings bubble from impurities.
• The remote control tip was built up with welding rod. Next time I’ll try crimping.

That’s how it turns out. Just right.

There was some deep corrosion in places, but overall I think we’ve refreshed it well.
What’s left is the harness, tires, and meter.
*The harness is already mounted.
