This is electropolishing (weld burn removal).
Removing burn from stainless steel is incredibly time-consuming.
Even with shot blasting, it doesn’t come off at all, and the blasted area becomes dull, so you end up having to blast the entire piece to eliminate the unevenness—which means it takes forever.
I understand why motorcycle shops hate stainless steel (SUS304)—here’s why:
• Cutting is difficult
Cutting with a contour saw = noisy
Surfacing = burns
*Unless you have a shearing machine
• Drilling is difficult
*With a standard drill angle, the bit will probably dull quickly.
If you want to drill holes in stainless steel,a moonlight drillwill solve most problems.
It works on aluminum too, so this is perfect!
• Weld burn removal is difficult
Even with shot blasting or Scotch-Brite, it takes forever—and it ends up uneven, so you have to blast the whole thing anyway.

Size-wise, it’s like a 20th-century battery charger.
It’s compact so you can place it anywhere. Easy to carry around too (though it’s a bit heavy—about 2 kilograms?).
