This nearly original Z1000R1 is looking as clean as ever.
Inspection, Deco-mainte, chain and sprocket replacement, and ELF oil change on the agenda.
Removed the side cover—light dirt buildup, so we’re in good shape.
The release lever is one of those spots worth checking whenever the cover comes off.
The bearings and distance collar look to be in good condition.
The rear caliper condition and operation look solid.
The axle runout checks out fine.
Cleaned out any excess oil from the bearing hole—good maintenance practice.
With a single-piston caliper, the slide pin operation is critical.
Cleaned and lubricated the lever as well.
Same treatment for the throttle—cleaned and lubricated.
Too much lubricant makes things heavy, so I went with a light, protective coating instead.
The starter contacts were showing signs of wear, so I cleaned them and applied contact restorer.
Front forks got the boots pulled up for lubrication and cleaning—this keeps them from wearing quickly and protects against rust for longer life.
Lubricated the side stand too.
