Inspection, ETC relocation, spark plug and oil change service.
We have a headlight tester and digital exhaust gas tester at the shop, so we check and adjust them before bringing the bike in for inspection.
The headlight left-right adjustment was a bit tricky to dial in. It was within the passing range, so we got it registered quickly and will check it again after we get it back.
The bracket that should be mounted to the lens is broken. We’re not doing anything beyond what’s necessary—we’ll let the owner know and figure out the next steps.
The owner wanted to keep the existing setup unmodified and be able to insert and remove the ETC card. There was a convenient M5 boss right there, so we sourced the antenna bracket from it.
Why two pieces?
First, we didn’t want to mess it up.
Second, the spot-welded overlapping section is double thickness to prevent vibration.
We hand-bent it to fit perfectly and mounted it with a chin rest.
When one M5 bolt might not be enough, we use a hot glue gun to bond it to the back of the cover.
Aside from the merits of this glue pen, the hot glue gun is surprisingly handy.
The core—or whatever you call it—fuses, so it hardens fast.
It has decent flexibility.
It’s weak against brake cleaner.
That weakness to brake cleaner is actually surprisingly important—when you want to peel it off, just spray it and it comes right off. With double-sided tape or other adhesives, cleanup is a pain. When a single bolt isn’t strong enough but you don’t want to dirty the bonding surface, this might be the answer.
That’s how we finished the mounting. We used titanium grade 2, T=2mm. It’s lightweight.
We removed and reinstalled the cowl so many times to get the angle right. We finally got it on.
We had to go with direct mounting. We positioned it so you can feel around and insert and remove the card. Once the cowl is on, it’s completely hidden, so only the owner and I can do it.
There’s a slight oil seep on the front bank. We’ll keep an eye on it.
The turn signal relay is straddling and mounted on the right side. If you want a faster turn signal response, we can make it blink with an IC.
The engine oil is ELF MOTO4RACE 10W-60.
ETC can only be handled officially by corporations (stock or limited companies). We don’t sell ETC units or set them up.
