Temporary mounting to check the length of wiring from the handlebar switches.
Yeah, Renthal grips are the best! They’re pretty firm so we don’t really recommend them to customers. If you like the thin, tacky direct feel, you might like them. (This time it’s a nice dark gray.)
We switched to a rear LED tail light, but I’m puzzled why wires come out from both sides. The side where the cover is off is empty.
And they’re pretty thick. For weight reduction, I’ll cut the unused side. Probably because the LED circuit board is installed in the reproduction KZ1000MK2 tail base, that’s why the wires come out.
We’ll remove all covers like this. As long as we bundle it neatly and it doesn’t rub, there’s no problem. (We’ll organize it later.)
How much thinner it’ll get. Like the ETC gel tube, I think we only need protection where it might rub…
A small discovery. The ZX10RR regulator connector. Same shape, and staring at it, there’s an unfamiliar black/white wire in the center. This wire goes to the fuse, so maybe we can tap ON 12V from it. Could be a future project.
I made a two-tier plate to mount the Watanabe unit.
The highlight this time? Hiding the coil in a box up front. The frame work under the tank is beautiful, but the coil and connectors look shabby. We want everything clean, even where it’s not visible.
Since the harness runs under the frame, it’s barely visible from above.
From the side you can see a bit, but it’s totally simple.
The back has all the components now. The electrical plate is slightly visible, but it’s the ultimate clean look. *The regulator will be mounted near the center stand.
The wiring isn’t bundled yet so it looks messy, but I think we’ve achieved a simple design.
We decided to remake this in titanium. First priority: light weight, second priority: light weight. See you on a lucky day!
