Let’s move on to the remaining work.
Today is the remaining Deco-mainte work including the rear. The chain slider is a really satisfying spot to work on—just wiping it down occasionally makes a big difference.
It’s nice when the chain pulls smoothly.
It’s covered in dust, but the condition isn’t bad.
Cleaning with a steam cleaner doesn’t use much water and the work goes very quickly.
It degreases pretty well, so just spray some rust preventative oil on the surface and wipe it down—it comes out shiny and clean.
We replaced the chain and sprockets too. DID/Sunstar.
I checked the bearings, wiped the oil seal lip, and applied a light coat of NC100 grease.
When both function and appearance improve, the owner will take better care of it too.
That makes things easier for me next time around.
The rear axle looks good too.
I dug in and cleaned it the usual way.
Checking the plate width for the chain replacement.
Disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated the levers, pedals, and side stand. It’s unglamorous work, but it all adds up.
The fluid was clean.

The steam cleaner has been working overtime lately. It’s kind of like using steam to blow air, I guess?
It might be good for cleaning filters like this.

I checked the generator connector and applied contact cleaner.
I added some rust preventative—hopefully it helps a bit.
After a test ride to confirm everything works, we’re done.
