Let’s install the Yoshimura ST-1 cam.

First, we remove the standard camshaft. It’s in excellent condition with no scoring.

It looks like the IN#3 cam and head were making light contact for some reason. I got worried when the tappet cap wouldn’t come off.

Since there’s a possibility the cam might contact, I’ll verify it separately.

The intake side is pretty risky. I’ll smooth it out lightly.

I’ll remove only the bare minimum.

This much clearance should be fine.

I’ll measure the valve timing. Basically, I don’t deviate from Yoshimura’s specifications. That’s the safe approach.

The measuring rod keeps getting sharper. Newer models must be pretty tough to work with…

By the way, this time I didn’t use elongated holes in the sprocket, and it worked perfectly on the first try. That said, Yoshimura cams rarely deviate that much. It’s definitely a reliable product. As for elongated holes, they make me a bit… worried, don’t they? I mean, how can just two M7 bolts really hold it? I worry about it every time. I’m a chronic worrier, I guess.
