It’s been a while. The final details take more time than installing the big parts.
USB port – honestly, I could only find disappointing options. Changing my approach, I thought: was it really this simple all along? USB port: if you point it upward, water can get in no matter how waterproof it claims to be. I wanted to mount it vertically, but the depth is long. An angle adapter works great here and looks good too.
Don’t just plug it in right away. First, check and double-check. It’s new, so it has a warranty – does that mean it’s safe? If it breaks, even with a warranty, you’ll waste time and effort dealing with it. If you can verify it just by plugging it in, you absolutely should.
It’s good that I routed the plug cord forward. There’s so much stuff under the tank…
You need to keep things as clean as possible and eliminate bolt-and-nut fastening, or maintenance and removal will become a hassle. You have to install aftermarket parts with future maintenance in mind.
When replacing the coil, measure the current. With two coils in use, around 1500–2000 RPM it suddenly spikes and then drops. It shoots up to nearly 4 amps in an instant.
From idle to above 2000 RPM, there isn’t much change. Since it’s a simple ammeter, treat it as a reference, but checking it gives you peace of mind about everything.
I replaced the air filter too.
I’m fabricating a tank support. I made a round rod and a boss.
Then I welded them.
I used a wire brush to remove the scale, and after polishing, it’s shiny.
First, the left clutch side.
The right brake reservoir takes a bit more work.
When you hide the weld seams, it looks beautiful and feels like one unified piece.
That’s the idea. As you get to know your bike better, you start caring about the connector parts for aftermarket pieces. It’s hard to make every detail look sharp no matter where you focus the camera, but if you gradually add your own originality, you’ll grow more attached to it.
Newtech oil change and Golden Cruiser fluid replacement completed the job.
With a completely new electrical system and Wahtani & Okada V+ installed, the starting is really smooth.
It feels genuinely great to ride now.
