Lifting the front to check the condition of the steering.
The steering condition isn’t bad, but it’s not in excellent shape either. It’s appropriate for the mileage and year, so let’s monitor it as we go. Well, before that, the clutch wire is catching somewhere inside the fairing when turning right, which is odd. I’ll check it later.
Quite a bit of rust. The inner condition isn’t too bad. Let’s clean and lubricate it and see how it goes.
Cleaning the calipers. The brake pads are about due for replacement. The left caliper moves well, but the right one isn’t responding as it should. However, it’s not in a seriously bad condition, so rest assured.
The wheel bearings are seated nicely.
The rear wheel bearings and damper are fine. Let’s keep using them.
You shouldn’t grab the piston just because it won’t turn. In this case, it’s better to leave it as is without turning it than to force it.
With the piston out, shaking the pad can cause one side to move and the other not to. If the piston return is even slightly sluggish, you get this kind of situation. It’s difficult to achieve complete freedom. The resistance when pushing and pulling the bike depends on the brake, wheel bearings, chain, tires, and air pressure.
To put it extremely, if you retract the pads, loosen the axle slightly, remove the chain, and increase the air pressure, you can push and pull very easily. It won’t be identical, but if you can get close to this state, there are actually many benefits to that.
An incredibly wavy chain. This is definitely out.
Built with the idea that as long as it turns, it’s OK. With this much waviness, the front and rear sprockets will wear quickly, and the chain slider on the swingarm side will be worn away broadly. I can’t imagine all the other problems, but there’s a reason cheap things are cheap.
The filter appears to have been replaced and is clean.
The plugs are relatively new too. Cylinders #1 and #4 are a bit oily.
The radiator cap might be due soon. I’ll check the rest as well.
