I wish I’d taken a photo before disassembly. It was shockingly dirty, but with these techniques I can clean it up nicely. For now, I’ll soak it overnight in engine conditioner or carburetor cleaner.
The next day, after wiping it clean, I’ll apply wet blasting from a distance—a bold technique I’ve used before. Since I’ve used a beat-up wet blaster before,I have a good sense of how to control the intensity. Since this is also a test run for the wet blaster, this kind of work is really helpful.
