We’re performing front maintenance and stem replacement.
It looked like it would fit as-is, but minor machining was needed.
First we replace just the stem and determine the stopper position.
We weld 6 mm thick steel and adjust it.
It could go further, but we’re keeping it in the safe zone.
The right side has an unusual brake hose layout, so it requires a bit more work than the left.
Next we determine the handlebar lock position and cut the groove. The clamp location was slightly in the way and gave us trouble with the chuck, but we managed.
You can really feel the age in this handlebar lock.
We successfully completed the lock.
We found a perfect seal on the lower side and were thrilled. It was great that we ordered it just in case.
