Today we’re fabricating a navigation mount bracket.
Considering earthquake resistance with floating suspension, ease of adjustment, and strength that won’t break, let’s use the OEM mirror design as our inspiration.
We’ll fabricate one set of hemispherical inner and outer collars.
We’ll fabricate the navigation adapter base and weld it together.
The thick material makes the work feel easier.
To put it nicely, it’s robust; to be blunt, it’s clunky. It takes more time than you’d expect.
It feels like it goes by in a flash, but it’s basically a full day’s work. I probably should have searched for a ready-made clamp, but there was a risk of failure, so I made one instead.
Working the milling machine after so long really wears you out.
