We’ll be installing a Yoshimura multi-temp meter, so let’s remove the upper cowl.

The mounting bracket came included, but it’s a bit bulky, so we’ll use a different method to install it.
The recently popular SUS-HL. With a digital meter, you have to press buttons to adjust settings, so we need to make sure it doesn’t flex.
But for a clean, simple look, we can bend it, add ribs, and create a rib to catch somewhere—that’ll work for this one.
SUS doesn’t need surface treatment, and HL has clean lines that look really nice and decorative.
We’re going to need a jig that can bend shallower curves.
A multi-tap comes included, but if possible, it’s better not to use it—that reduces the chance of problems.
The ideal is that anyone can disconnect the wiring we’ve modified and reconnect it without notes.
And if it can be disconnected without tools, looks clean, and there’s no worry about crimps pulling out, that’s really safe.
Co-fastening the negative side to a bolt is wasteful both in terms of disconnection and appearance. Finding a spot where both positive and negative are close together and can be routed in the same direction is always the tricky part.
It’s oddly satisfying when you cleanly remove the Velcro with a gasket punch.
