It was incredibly hot today again. The moment you step outside the air-conditioned factory, you’re wrapped in a “muggy” wave of heat.
You feel like riding a bike is the last thing you should be doing in this kind of outside temperature. Today I was doing temporary installation of a headlight tester and moving bikes in and out.
When I was about to put the bike away, I noticed something “A grasshopper!” Where’s the ant… where’s the ant… oh, I must have exterminated it… That’s how I’m continuing with the work.
Just looking at a fuse won’t give you a performance boost that’s surprising. I think it’s a part you wouldn’t even remove or reseat if there’s no problem.
If you take it out and reseat it about once every two years, you might feel a bit more confident. You’ll also notice if you’re missing spare fuses and such.
If you’re going on a tour, it’s reassuring to stock up on breaker fuses and such.
This breaker fuse is tall, so the fuse box cover won’t close. In other words, it’s difficult to leave this fuse breaker installed.
If you keep it in your on-board tools during a tour, your peace of mind will increase significantly. I think a blown fuse is a problem in itself, but it does happen occasionally “I blow a fuse now and then” Even if you find yourself in that situation, you won’t have to worry about running out of spare fuses.
Since spare fuses last pretty much forever, you can buy them and throw them in a Ziploc bag or something for peace of mind.
I’ll also clean up the main earth terminal. I’d really like to replace parts like this, but unfortunately it’s been discontinued.
A little lubrication and cleaning really reduces stress
Just having the seat lock not open and close smoothly causes a bit of stress. When it doesn’t fit well, you tend to handle it roughly.
I think when parts like this slide in smoothly and snap into place, you’ll treat them more gently. The fuel cap lid often gets corroded or doesn’t move smoothly. Just lubricating and wiping it makes a huge difference in smoothness.
Just cleaning the fuel filler opening rim occasionally makes you feel better. It’s the same with cars. When you open the fuel cap and it’s all dirty, it’s a bit of a downer. It only takes a quick wipe now and then, so give it a try.
I charged the battery and replaced the spark plugs just to be safe. The #1/4 is a bit fouled. It’s not fouled enough to be a concern, so let’s keep an eye on it.
I cleaned the license plate for the first time in a while. The mounting bolts are probably still the original ones from when I bought it new?
They were pretty rusty, so I replaced them with iron bolts again.
The bleeder nipple arrived, so I bled the air. The caliper condition wasn’t stable, so I had the lever set far back. Once I properly bled all the air, it became incredibly far back.
I’ll adjust the lever position during a test ride.
That’s how our grasshopper friend is eagerly waiting for delivery. I’ll do a test ride tomorrow and that will be the completion.
