When replacing the starter valve, apply just a little lubrication.
When assembled, it looks like this. The return is just the spring—you’ll notice the seal grips surprisingly well, so you want to return it smoothly.
Testing individual components in operation gives you confidence in their condition.
A seal with a structure like two O-rings connected in a cylinder. With the future in mind, I lubricate it slightly so it lasts longer.
Checking the actual fuel level lets you spot changes in level or overflow problems at a glance, which makes a real difference in peace of mind. It’s good to check and remember the difference between actual fuel level and float level.
Since we’ve disassembled it, the carburetors being out of sync is expected.
The K and L models route the clutch hose through this tight spot. To avoid problems with fuel hoses and such, I changed it to run on the outside, like the later M/N models.
I want this to last a long time to come.
