Accidentally? I’ve picked up a habit of playing around and it’s become a problem… Because the environment is so nice~(*´ω`*)
Playing is my job… that’s what I’m aiming for. Do I need to try harder? Anyway, the GSF1200 that we’re keeping for inspection and maintenance. Let’s move forward smoothly with the maintenance work.
Today’s Maintenance & Inspection Log

Wiping tires with a damp cloth and checking for foreign objects
With a damp towel, I wipe away the rural dirt while… checking the tires for any embedded objects.
Honestly, it’s not a big deal“but nobody does it, right?” I wonder if the old B-Motor would have just tapped in a screw… Such incidents have faded and now feel nostalgic.
As you get older…A few years ago feels likeit’s becoming that way. Nowadays, I often need to check and point out tire manufacturing dates and such on this end.
Urban riders don’t rack up distance, so tires don’t wear down and they don’t notice.
You also need to check wheel size and JWL standards. I don’t think it would be noticed at the sleeves… Some picky people wouldpoint out “even that?”I’ve received such feedback.
Ah~ since coming to Chiba, even the inspection part has become easier (*´ω`*)
Do the work as easily and smartly as possible
If you try to remove the wheel without protection, you get nervous. You can wrap a wheel cover in just a few seconds. Just doing this makes a huge difference in peace of mind, so please buy one and use it generously.
When inserting and removing the axle shaft, don’t the spacers fall out all over the place? If you want to work smoothly and calmly, a tire lifter is super convenient.
The spacers and supportsgo CLANG! against the wheel and the paint cracks! Before that happens, please use this
Goggles for machining, motorcycle helmets, I wish I’d done that~Such regrets are common. A little preparation makes all the difference.
Dirt tends to accumulate subtly. Tire shops don’t have time to clean it, and there are surprisingly many spots you can’t reach yourself.
Doing this doesn’t improve performance at all but I have a feeling that when you’re in a good mood, the bike won’t let you downI feel like it does. It’s superstition, but… I think there’s something to it. Definitely.
The raw state is the best… I finished it with wet blasting.
It’s tedious, so you don’t usually deal with the protruding bolt. I fitted it perfectly. Just this alone saves the weight of one bolt. We’ve done a little weight reduction.
Gale Speed is amazing! All rear wheel bearings are the same size… So that’s how they did it… I was impressed by the rationality.
I also checked the axle shaft. Big bikes usually develop a slight rear wobble. Of course, we’re talking within acceptable limits.
It’s important to verify brakes with numbers
I check what disc is currently being used, its outer diameter, thickness, and the minimum specification for that disc. When you check multiple points like this, you notice things you wouldn’t otherwise.
How much brake pad thickness remains? I read the brand, friction material, and convert it to data.
This maintenance is also advancing daily, so it changes from last month to this month, from yesterday to today. It’s like upgrading the version as I work.
The caliper operation was good too.
Chain condition. Know the final ratio/link count/P-A distance
I wash it thoroughly, then rub the chain lube in with vigor. The existence of nitrile gloves is truly great. By rubbing it in,“a little rough” “stiff”and such sensations come through your hands. Nowadays, chains breaking is rare, but smooth power transmission comes from the chain. It makes a subtle difference.
I check the final ratio and confirm the sprocket brand currently in use. If something seems off, it’s good to check the clutch release too. No problems found.
Adjust evenly left and right with a tool. It’s homemade so it’s pretty rough, but it’s slightly better than adjusting by the chain puller markings.
At the same time, you can know the distance between the pivot and axle, so you learn something new like “oh, that’s how it is~”
So for now, I’ve made progress on just the rear. To be continued(*´ω`*)
