When in doubt…
we replace it.
PAMS’s kit
Main Harness Update Package
A convenient kit with harness and fuse kit
all in one set.
Honestly, I always think…
“The Z is a current model.”

Main Harness Update Package
This is the best choice to use (*´ω`*)
When in doubt, go with this!
Well, you won’t be in doubt anyway…

Older bikes have fewer harnesses,
so peeling them off is quick.
Easy!
Harness replacement work
If it’s just a straight swap, two to three hours is plenty
and we’ll finish with time to spare.
That’s the truth. If it’s just replacement, that is.
But
when you factor in layout and length changes,
connector shapes and future work,
it becomes incredibly time-consuming.
So we’re not taking that on right now (;・∀・)
This time it’s a repair anyway.

For example,
you could bundle long wires separately,
but…

Like this,
matching lengths precisely
and wrapping them takes time.
But! It looks so good, doesn’t it? ♪

Old bikes are thoughtful in many ways like this.
But you have to be careful or it gets dangerous…
Watch out for pinching!
New harness has stiffness,
so you pull it firmly!
Stretching the wires is important.

The technology of that era…
no locks.
Even with the same 110 terminals,
the sizes differ.
*No operational issues.
Since we want to make sure they don’t come loose,
we’ll swap in connectors with locks.
*Terminals are also re-crimped.

Work that anyone can take apart and reassemble instantly
with no confusion is easy and reliable.
We label everything with a P-TOUCH.
Plus, the technology of that era
has few color-coded connectors,
which means it’s easy to mix them up.

I hate the Z’s waterproof covers.
I cut them all off.
Since the connector colors bother me,
I use mesh covers for a clean look.
As for connector cover issues,
insertion feel is weak,
you can’t see what you’re doing,
and disconnection efficiency is poor.
By the way, I’ve never seen
any other bike with covers on
both male and female connectors…
In a way, it’s luxurious?

This is how we installed it.
Rear brake switch, ignition pickup, turn signals, horn, switches and more
have all been shortened.

Let’s replace the meter-side harness too.

The meter back light…
“won’t come out → burns out” is always the pattern.
For a moment I thought “well, maybe it’s okay?”
but no way…
We’ve ordered a new one (*´ω`*)
Oh,
the engine started and the ignition system is normal.
Confidence has jumped dramatically.
It’s autumn now~ with the temperature changes, is your health doing okay?
