This time of year there are a lot of inspections, and I’ve been away from the shop quite a bit lately… One bike at a time is starting to feel a bit rough. The highway tolls and gas add up…
For now, I want to think about the plan and direction based on how many inspections we’ll do by 2026. Anyway, with all that going on, we’ve made progress and it’s now evening (*´ω`*)
Today’s maintenance & inspection log
Vehicle:Suzuki GSF1200
Work performed:
Deco-mainte (Decoboco’s own inspection maintenance menu):
Brake caliper cleaning and piston knockback.
Complete brake and clutch fluid replacement.
Cleaning and greasing of levers, pedals, and all moving parts.
Obtaining continued inspection certificate (submitted to the Land Transport Bureau)
Result: The braking power and control feel needed to safely handle the torquey oil-cooled engine have snapped back into place. Of course, it passed the inspection line on the first try!

Wiping with a damp towel. It’s a small thing, but it reveals what you can’t normally see. *Not in a spiritual sense.
Ah! The tread is shallow, uneven wear is severe, nails or debris are stuck in there. The rear is easy to spot, but the front is hard to see. Safety and peace of mind can be increased with small steps.
I checked the axle shaft and disassembled and cleaned the speedometer gear too. I’ve been half-heartedly restarting YouTube lately…
When I shoot video, I forget to take photos. I’m still getting used to juggling both, so adjustments continue.
I also cleaned and oiled the speedometer cable.
It’s rare to get the chance to replace it…
Caliper cleaning and fluid replacement
Wow! This is the first time I’ve seen a titanium piston. Amazing.
I installed a Honda OEM master float. 45523-MN5-006
The length didn’t match, so I cut and fine-tuned it.
I replaced the brake fluid with Golden Cruiser DOT4.
Gale Speed 6006 with guts
Sticking with the 6006 out of sheer determination… Gale Speed is fearsome. The font used for bearings, similar to this segfont, isn’t really great.
You can easily mistake a “5” for a “6” at a glance. Same with carb jets“More mistakes = more risk” I wish they’d make it more readable.
Knowing the wheel bearing this way makes it easy to order when you want to replace it.
Deco-mainte is always thinking
Cold compressionwas checked. The manual calls for warm measurement“Once warmed up, it’s basically higher”becomes the case. Low cold readings mean poor starting.
Ideally, checking both cold and warm would tell us the percentage change.
The air filter should probably be replaced. So we’re waiting on the air filter (*´ω`*)
Suzuki GSF1200: Going beyond a simple inspection with “Deco-mainte”.
Vehicle: Suzuki GSF1200. Work: Shaken (vehicle inspection) & “Deco-mainte” (Decoboco’s custom maintenance). Details: The GSF1200 is famous for its massive oil-cooled torque in a compact frame. For a bike with this much power, just passing the basic inspection isn’t enough. We performed our “Deco-mainte” service, which includes a deep clean of the brake calipers, replacing all fluids, and greasing all pivot points. Verdict: The bike passed the inspection smoothly. With the braking and handling refreshed, the owner can now safely enjoy that legendary oil-cooled power this spring!
