Let’s upgrade to a Sunstar brake disc.
Basic bolt-on setup. It uses modern BD material and works well with a variety of brake pads.
The aggressive hole pattern enhances cleaning effect and contributes to weight reduction.
After just a light test ride, the squealing has completely disappeared. I’m curious to see how it performs once it’s fully bedded in.
Since there may be various types, it’s reassuring to measure first.
It suddenly became sharper and the appearance improved as well.
When replacing the disc, we definitely want to replace the pads too. Let’s clean everything while we’re at it.
Dimensionally there were no issues, but when doing a trial fit, the disc sticks out about 1 mm.
Using the chain side as reference, we push the caliper outward with a spacer. Newly fabricated from A7075.
Since the seal contacts it, we went with hard anodizing.
This looks pretty good now.
We also laid out the brake hose simply and cleanly.
