The customer requested installation of a MOSFET regulator (used) to match the Shorai battery.
It has an open battery cap in the MF style. Looking good…
I’ll paint the sponge black to keep it subtle.
It looks similar to the STD, but the slightly sharp edges get in the way, so the same mounting won’t work. If I raise it to avoid contact, it hits the tank.
There’s no good mounting position to extend it all the way to the tail cowl area either, so I’ll keep it as short as possible.
VR1 failed, so I made VR2. The bolts won’t fall out, and it attaches and detaches smoothly.
I installed it like this,
and now there’s no contact.
I positioned everything and wired it up—done.
Here’s what the digital tachometer shows at idle. I think it’ll be a bit higher on the road.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the carburetors this rough—the engine’s running poorly too.
For now, let’s see how it goes.
