GS1200SS-12 Replica. I felt a sharpness comparable to an Inazuma oil-cooled Katana.

First, we’ll replace the engine damper. It’s worn quite a bit. It was pretty loose.

When the front side play keeps shifting no matter what you do, loosen the rear mount to position it correctly.
The engine mounting position has quite a bit of play (loose), so adjust it to match the current state.

The generator damper still had plenty of elasticity. That’s reassuring.

We also replaced the starter motor O-ring.

It’s good to clean it up as much as you can.

There’s no front cover, but we cleaned it up nicely.

It had a Yoshimura cover, so there wasn’t much gravel buildup.

The strongest amount of liquid gasket sealant I’ve ever experienced. It took nearly an hour to remove it all from both the engine side and the head cover side.
Unless there’s some defect (like a crack or an uneven surface from repairs), applying sealant doesn’t really provide much insurance against leaks, so I think it’s better not to use it.
A leak means the head cover gasket has reached the end of its life, so just replace it when that happens.

The head cover side is recessed and the gasket side is raised. You can install it as-is without applying anything. From my experience, on the 750, 1100, and 1200, if you just place the gasket and go nice and easy, it won’t come off.
Let’s go the additive-free route!
