④ GSX-R1100L Main Harness Replacement — Sunstar Disk KIT and more

Even without the relay installed, the gauge swings all the way—what a thrill! (;゚∀゚)=3 Panting! That’s the spirit.

The generator connector had melted. I’m amazed it ran this well for so long.

Wet-cell batteries are best avoided if possible.
• Fluid level needs frequent inspection.
• During charging, it bubbles and mist or fluid typically comes out the breather.
• The battery area gets coated with dilute sulfuric acid mist and hydrogen gas, corroding easily and risking ignition or explosion.

Plug-and-play MF batteries aren’t impossible, but it’s at your own risk. If you go plug-and-play, WESTCO has no issues.

Don’t forget to check parts for reuse.

That’s a pretty clever technique—I take my hat off to it.

I’ll relocate the ground forward. Easier to install means better workability and visibility.

Scraping the paint before installing might help a bit.

The starter relay looked questionable, so I replaced it with a new one.

The ignition coil gets replaced too. Easy to spot at a glance means better workability, which makes future work easier. The old-timer’s love of label makers never changes.

When inserting the plug cap, poking a pilot hole with an awl first makes it easy.

After replacing the harness, I prefer not to modify it further—that reduces risk and liability. I’ve set up a relay to tap power for the ETC. There’s room for more expansion, so let me know if you need anything.

* I always hope people won’t touch the electrical system at all.
After spending time, effort, and materials to install something, if you later ask us to do other electrical work, you’ll need to pay for removal, repair, reinstallation, and reinstallation labor.

I know you want to install it right away, but thinking it through first is better.

Shield all unused or spare connectors and terminals. That’s the professional way to leave room for future work.

Headlight replacement should include inspection compliance, proper beam adjustment, and correct light positioning.

Then we measure high beam. Around 42,000 cd—that feels great. Quality lenses and bulbs really do give absolute peace of mind.

Headlight on: 14.7 V—solid and reassuring!

A lot of bikes sit too low! Less heaving means less rider strain. A slight sole lift makes a big difference.

A bit off topic: the caliper action wasn’t quite right. I thought, ‘Oh well,’ and took it for a test ride, but… this won’t do. Time for a bold decision! I have seals in stock, so a quick OH it is.

Poor action leads to vigorous massaging, which often doesn’t yield results.
Rubber is rubber, but old rubber gets stiff.

Since it’s an anodized caliper, I’ll blast it clean with a high-pressure washer in the box.

Then I’ll oven-bake it at water evaporation temperature for complete degreasing.

After inspecting the seals, time to assemble. (Pistons are reused.)

Replace the bolts and we’re done. Push and pull feel smooth again, and the fork return issue that felt off is gone. All finished.
