Coming up with a catchphrase or tagline is really tough.
I think that when creating a tagline for this GS1200SS, someone must have observed the bike carefully, imagined things like “rugged” and “of that era,” and ultimately arrived at the phrase “real man.”
Inspection, maintenance, and cleaning are all included.

The headlight bracket corrosion is the problem here.
Aluminum turns to powder pretty quick if you don’t anodize or paint it.
The worst part is the buffed finish. Some people love buffing—it’s their jam. I’m terrible at it.
I disassemble while thinking how hard someone worked drilling all those holes.

It’s pretty scratched up. I considered running a hair liner over it, but I polished it as is.

We refreshed it like this. We replaced all the bolts and nuts with new ones too.

We clean and lubricate the chain. It’s a good time to clean the inside of the wheel too.

Wheel and tire runout look fine.

Based on the manufacturing date and tread condition, I’d suggest considering replacement soon.

The wheel bearings were in excellent condition.

The front and rear axle shafts are in good condition.

We refresh it during maintenance. Good condition will last longer.

The rear pads have no material left, so we’re replacing them. We also cleaned the rear caliper.
Piston operation is good.

We cleaned the brake caliper too. Piston operation is excellent.

We dig out and clean the brake disc holes, degrease, and get them sparkling clean.
The rear is getting close to the limit, so please consider replacement.

The key to front fork inner tubes is not letting them rust in the first place.
If you protect them from rust and keep them properly lubricated, inner tubes last a really long time.
I think every day that the basics start with cleaning. More to come.
