Basically, we don’t accept bikes without inspection, scooters (all types), or custom work.
Lately, even new customers are unsure what to do.
So this one is a second bike, and they only wanted the caliper and master done, so we accepted the work.
If you thought, “Hey, me too!” please start with a consultation first.

The piston wouldn’t move at all… I mean, it got stuck that badly? It’s amazing how powerful nature is, isn’t it?

An old-fashioned resin piston, how nostalgic. Turns out it’s been discontinued (´;ω;`)
The seals didn’t look that bad, actually… I feel like repair and maintenance work gets harder every year.
I think failures are always case by case.

So we finished the front caliper.

You should get the master overhauled too—you never know what might happen in a situation like this.
So we’re going to do an OH on the master as well. It had a weird Honda-style structure.

We removed and polished the fluid backflow prevention window. After cleaning, we’ll dry it and then reassemble.

The customer wanted to replace the front brake hose with an OEM rubber one.
Of course it’s discontinued… This is a problem… What do we do??
I looked up the layout and images on Google, and figured the XR250 (MD30) should work… I hope it does. Fingers crossed. I ordered it.
Every time I do this, I wonder what the heck I’m doing.
The angles and layout of the upper and lower banjos are pretty much the same.
The fork clamp location is different, but we managed to fit it with proper alignment—glad that worked out!

Time passed, and we moved on to the rear caliper. The condition wasn’t too bad.

And so the rear master came out nice and clean too.

After air blowing, we gently warm them in the oven to completely evaporate any moisture.
That might bump up the confidence level by about 1% (by our standards).

While they were warming, we inspected and checked everything, then reassembled and completed the test ride.
In the end, it took half a day…
The most time-consuming part was sourcing the parts. Honda’s parts list is hard to read too—I wondered how many different calipers they have (´;ω;`) Now I need to make up the invoice.
