[Thoughts] Waste. Waste. Isn’t time the biggest waste of all?

Saving money and keeping possessions to a minimum with no waste—that’s wonderful.

If you’re thinking, “There’s a pandemic, so there’s nothing to do. I’m bored,” grumbling to yourself…
I think if you set even some small decision or goal for yourself, starting tomorrow you’ll feel a sharp “snap!” and your spirit will tighten up.

Why not start by throwing out those junk parts lying around your room?

“Look, you won’t make it to sixty, so you’d better do what you want to do now.”

Well, that phrasing is a bit misleading.
What I mean is, “You won’t reach that age in better health than you are now.”

Everything declines little by little, and it’s hard to feel that slope as it happens. That’s how we’re descending.
I think we only realize it when we suddenly look back at that slope or when the scenery changes.

To keep your eyes seeing, your nose working, your ability to eat and drink anything deliciously, your freedom to move around, your hearing sharp—
maintaining this state requires real effort.

In these pandemic times, doing things is harder than it used to be, but I think meaningful thinking produces meaningful action.
In recent years, I’ve been feeling a strong sense of fin de siècle.
COVID, torrential rains, and in the near future another major earthquake or Mount Fuji erupting—I used to think that was occult nonsense. But I’ve come to think, “Nothing would surprise me anymore,” because so many things are happening.

A few years ago things were peaceful… sorry for the gloomy times.
Oddly enough, this pandemic has made my thinking sharper all at once.
In a good way: “Don’t do what you don’t want to do,” “Don’t spend time with people you don’t need,” “Think of time as meaningful.” Everyone has different circumstances—some can do these things, some can’t—but I think if you remember that “good health and good times aren’t forever” and start moving from morning, you’ll feel even more fulfilled.
*Just so you know, I’m not sick or anything, so don’t worry! (*’ω’*)
