GSX1200S Inazuma 1200 oil-cooled Katana oil-cooled maintenance + Yoshimura ST-1 cam installation swing arm OH stem bearing replacement inspection

Let’s replace the stem bearings.

We’re always working hard to make sure the job can proceed without any tricks (‘ω’)ノ
Humans are constantly heading down the road to becoming a wreck. Our daily effort is to make sure that deterioration doesn’t show up in our work.

The top bridge pinch bolt is super tight. The threads on the bolt side were messed up. I tapped it and got torque on it, so it worked out.
What was going on there?

Basically I hang and secure it.
Since it’s a clip-on handlebar, I add a shortened 43φ inner tube to keep it in place (‘ω’)ノ

It’s better not to work with things dangling around.

The grease is already degraded. But the race condition was pretty good overall.

We’ll replace the stem bearings with similar retainer-equipped ball bearings.

We press them in using a modified hydraulic punch.
No need to bang bang! (‘ω’)ノ

It’s best to visually confirm that it’s been pressed in properly.

Apply Neutech NC100 grease generously and assemble.

It’s good to check the upper seal engagement by hand too.
If you tighten the adjustment nut firmly once to break in the lower seal, the later adjustment will be easier.

The washer was pretty bad, so I made a spacer (;’∀’)

Let’s continue with the oil-cooled maintenance work in progress. We replaced the engine damper.
It was more worn than expected.

These through-bolts are hard to remove, aren’t they?

The area under the starter motor was pretty dirty. We also replaced the starter motor O-ring, so you can rest assured.

The generator damper was also worn to the point of rattling.
I polished the side too, but I forgot to take a picture, sorry.

I also polished the starter motor lightly.

We’re almost at the finish line (‘ω’)ノ
