To be honest, I feel like there haven’t been any hit models lately.
Honda’s already hard to get, Kawasaki’s used bikes cost more than new ones, Yamaha too, and so on.
The new Katana is good in its own way, but I think what people really want is Kagayama’s Katana, isn’t it?
If they used Katana power, maybe we’d see some real hits coming out.

I think it would be great if the manufacturer just released it with a Katana face from the start.
Kawasaki does it with the Z900RS and the W800 (MEGURO K3) —bringing past glory back to the present! That strategy is brilliant, isn’t it?
I think fans probably end up owning both old and new.
It really seems to have reached people who weren’t interested in new bikes before.
If the manufacturer announced an SV650 with a sword face, that would make me happy too.
And while I doubt parts compatibility with the old Katana would be possible, if it were, it would extend the parts supply life, so having both new and old plus parts on hand would be perfect.
I know it’s not that simple when you’re a major manufacturer, but looking at Suzuki’s current lineup makes me a little sad.
I just pray that swinging the Katana around fearlessly will create a hit.
For now, the strategy of using a steel frame plus an R1000 engine to make fried rice from refrigerator ingredients might actually be delicious too.
