We’re hearing a lot of stories about people getting scared and buying up parts.
But as we spread this information around, people start asking “what about this one? What about that one?” and parts we never thought about before come into play, which teaches us a lot too.
Rubber and resin parts—seriously, check one-two on those (*’ω’*)
Headlight beam adjustment resin parts. This is serious.
The pillow bearing side rather than the resin nut is basically a dedicated part.
It’s better to stock at least one set per bike.
Chain slider and bearing collar (center sleeve collar)
The chain slider is discontinued even for the GSF1200.
In a pinch you can use Delrin, but the OEM part is simple—just take it off and put it on.
Custom fabrication and machining cost extra each time, so OEM is preferable if you can get it.
Needle roller bearings are basically standard parts, so you can source them anytime.
But the collar (or sleeve?) that goes inside is a dedicated part.
This is very important, so if you’re planning to disassemble the swingarm, you should get it beforehand.
If you plan to ride it to the end, the fuel cock is essential.
What’s great about the OEM part is that you just swap it out. If you’re a stock carb person, it’s a must-have.
Same goes for the speedometer cable.
For bikes where reproduction isn’t an option, these are parts you definitely want to stock.
