GSF1200 Oil-cooled maintenance, carburetor OH, rear maintenance, front maintenance, wheel bearing replacement and more

We’ll assemble it with reliable SKF oil seals.

We checked the inner tube runout. No issues found.

Today’s troublemaker.

Applying too much thread locker to cylinder bolts can cause secondary damage.
Even after re-punching, the bolt kept spinning.

• Disassemble and use a set screw,
• Or spot weld.
We went with spot welding since it’s easier. The bottom surface is finished flat, so rest assured.

We also deburr and polish the oil lock.
We put love into every single part.

It’s best not to reuse cylinder bolts.

I’ve never stripped one myself, but I’ve watched others do it, and getting a single bolt unstuck easily costs a good hour.
There’s always the possibility of prior damage, so constant vigilance is needed.

The latest trend: fill the lip area with fluorine grease.

It should maintain operation and reduce oil leakage… fluorine is supposed to be the best…

An aftermarket fork spring kit has arrived.
Let me check the rate just to be safe.

I’ve been fabricating various attachments.
For now we can only compress to 70 mm, but we can read the rate numerically from 0 to 70 mm.
When you want to change it later or when you need to judge whether the current spring is hard or soft, having the numbers in your head makes a spring tester a really useful tool.

After buying it, I thought this could probably be made pretty easily…

We vacuum bleed, adjust the oil level, and we’re done assembling!

Now we’ll replace the wheel bearings.
The grease was still in good condition with plenty left.
I’ve marked the dimensions on the distance spacer.

(STRAIGHT/Straight) Pilot bearing puller set 8–35 mm 19-8000

If we clean up the speedometer gear and cable and apply oil, they should still work fine and operate smoothly.

The axle runout was also fine.

【3M Dual Lock thin fastener, clear, adhesive-backed SJ-4570 25.4 mm width × 1 m roll】 Dramatically stronger fastening than hook-and-loop fasteners, removable

The 3M Dual Lock SJ-4570 is thin, feels great to attach and detach, and can be used in all sorts of ways.
Watanabe ignition, turn signal relays, digital gauges, ETC, and more.
It works great on fork guards too, with excellent removability.

Almost done!
