I want to drain the old oil thoroughly.
Especially old, degraded oil, or when you’re not sure what was in there.
It might also be effective when switching to a new brand of oil.
Replacing the oil filter at the same time is very reassuring.
If you own it yourself and know its history well, you can adjust the frequency.
OEM drain bolts don’t cost much.
If it looks dirty, go ahead and replace it. Aluminum ones make me a bit nervous, so it might be better to avoid them.
Applying a little fluorine grease to the gasket seems to reduce oil seepage.

This time I drained some seriously degraded oil before switching to fresh oil (Shell Advance Ultra 15W-50).
From the initial state, the engine sound and smoothness from idle have improved dramatically.
That said, this time the swap was from such a terrible condition that improvement is naturally expected. Engine oil changes definitely make a difference you can feel, but whether it’s dramatic? I’m not so sure…
I prioritize good shift feel and the oil’s ability to recover and durability after heat exposure. Generally speaking, keeping the oil from being exposed to excessive heat helps maintain good condition longer. *Oil temperature management is important! ( ﾟДﾟ)
