Episode 35 [Inazuma 1200] Oil-cooled 1200 series. Finally STD with Yoshimura ST-1. Could it actually be equivalent to ST-1.5?

When you put a Yoshimura ST-1 in the oil-cooled 1200 series, it really does become normal, doesn’t it?

It’s hard to define what “normal” means, but… I suppose it means returning to the original state?

So I suddenly thought about something… Recently. Actually.

The valve springs are shared with the GSX-R1100.

I hear the ST-1 is set up almost identically to the GSX-R1100.
*Sorry, I haven’t verified this accurately ( ;∀;)

Wait a minute… GSX-R1100 ST-1?

Stock valve springs are fine.
Working backwards…

The GSX-R1100 cam was commonly adapted to the oil-cooled 1200.
=The cam sprocket can be installed as-is.

And
the valve springs work as-is too.

Yoshimura ST-1 Camshaft Set GSXR1100G-L

Looking at Yoshimura’s specs
Oil-cooled 1200 series
MAX LIFT(mm) IN 8.80mm/EX 8.30mm
1mm DURATION(°) IN 235°/EX 230°

GSX-R1100
MAX LIFT(mm) IN 9.00mm/EX 8.50mm
1mm DURATION(°) IN 244°/EX 245°

It might be a bit more potent…
People who’ve experienced the high-rpm sharpness of the ST-2 would think, wow, this engine revs that high…
But
removing the head = doing the top end is something you’d want to do.
=When you remove the cylinder, sand gets in.

This is what a high cam feels like! I think it would give you that kind of feel.

I kind of predict that… the GSX-R1100 version might be discontinued? That’s what I thought…

This kind of adaptation is what makes the oil-cooled bikes fun.

Also, since this is speculation without data, take it with a grain of salt (*^-^*)
