“What? 120 horsepower?” 1983 Impressive GPZ1100 (Air-Cooled) Michelin POWER6 Tire Change Fork Overhaul and More

GPZ1100 (Air-Cooled) Whether it has an F or not.
It’s complicated…
Well then The tires are rock hard and the forks are completely soggy in condition.

Since the carb is now sharp we have a refresh request for the moving parts (*´ω`*)

So let’s get to work.
Since it’s a custom bike that’s been in long-term storage, I’ll check each part as we go.

Looking up for a moment… they’re rebuilding the stem shaft (non-hollow).
We don’t usually use a front racing stand, but lifting the front for long-term storage can be problematic. *Like painting and such…

Michelin POWER6 (New)

Basically, I’m a Michelin fan.
They’re light, soft, and have good durability, so when people ask for a recommendation I push Michelin.

4.29kg
5.65kg

POWER6
120/70-17 4.29kg
180/55-17 5.65kg = 9.94kg

We’ll assemble it with the recently popular Gale Speed 11.5φ air valve.

Make a pipe with a diameter that fits snugly onto the air valve and secure it firmly.

Hmm… I’ll put it back (*´ω`*)

Each part is looking a bit tired.
When you polish things carefully during work like this, they should come out looking sharp.
The usual no-touch glossy finish ~ (*´ω`*)

The inside of the wheel is spray wax FW-1 to give it a nice glossy finish.

Little by little…

That’s how I polished it.

I also polished the end section after removing the adjuster.

The axle shaft should be fine.

I also oiled the speedometer cable. The torque rod bolts are a bit worn, so I’ll replace them.

POWER6 has a gentle round shape with high expectations (*´ω`*)

120 horsepower on an air-cooled bike from this era is amazing (*´ω`*)
