Converting Inazuma to GSF1200?? GSX1200S Oil-Cooled Inazuma Katana BST36 Installation Swingarm Overhaul Fork Overhaul & Bottom Case Machining

Everyone! It’s already May!

Ugh…The pivot shaft won’t come out—the Inazuma and GS1200SS in their stubborn phase
This is quite the problem (;∀;)

This time I had a bad feeling and it came true~Wasshoi! Wasshoi!

Yes! Here it comes! Won’t budge at all…

This time I removed it with hammer, hammer action.

Like splitting firewood? That worked this time. So happy.
Units that have never been disassembled are quite riskyso please don’t request them too often…

Normally, a pivot should come out with just a finger push.
Quite a problematic unit.

Aluminum dirt? Engine conditioner to the rescue!
There was a lot of corrosion so it didn’t get perfectly clean. *It’s definitely much cleaner than it was originally though.

Use an inexpensive bearing puller for removal!

Lubrication, heat, and toolsWith these three things, you’ll rarely fail.
For needle roller bearing removal, I really want you to try using a bearing puller.
*It’s even more reliable if you machine it so the puller goes through like in the photo.

↑This one is enough to handle up to 25mm.

↑Recently I needed larger sizes too, so I added this one.
*For shops, this one might be the safer choice.

If you don’t completely remove rust, it’ll spread again

The usual situation. *Inazuma/GS1200SS
Most bikes don’t look like this.

Water gets in easily? You might think so, but I don’t think that’s it…
The Inazuma/GS1200SS pivot shafthas plating only on the ends, not the middle sectionkind of thing.
*There must have been a reason for doing mechanical machining after plating…probably
The point is, the iron itself is exposed = it rusts easily, I think.
*I haven’t looked into it thoroughly, but visually it seems that way~

The iron core sitting on top keeps rusting more and more…
As a result, they fuse together and won’t come outthat’s what happens.

We thoroughly remove rust surface treatment before replacing bearings.

Actually, the core is super important(*´ω`*)

Japanese people say Anko
This part is often model-specific. Bearings are standard parts.
When this core becomes discontinued, it’s a real pain.
*It’s hardened so it’s difficult to machine

If you plan to disassemble, buy it now—it’s racing stuff

Adjusting shims individually means you won’t get exhausted.
Back in the day, I used toassemble the swingarm~remove it~assemble it~remove it~doing pointless work.

We polish areas where hands can’t reach thoroughly.
Do what you can do yourself.

A rare item that occasionally comes back! Currently back in stock! Hurry!

Suzuki OEM 61196-38G01 Brake Hose Guide
Back in this era, guides were fixed with rivets, which is really tedious.
By using more modern parts like this, we can improve workability too.

I went with a longer front sprocket.
Show some love to the counter shaft threads…

To be continued.
