The rear shock I sent in for overhaul a while back has returned, so I’m going to install it.

The Quantum came back all shiny and polished.
I’m guessing it was overhauled once somewhere in the past? It was already clean to begin with, but it came back all shiny and polished. When something gets clean like that, it really feels great, you know?
At the same time, I’ll clean up the linkage area and lubricate it.
Since there are bearings in there, I polished them manually by hand. It really does feel good when things are clean, doesn’t it?
I thoroughly washed away the old grease, dried everything, and then sealed in fresh grease.
One is masking, two is masking, three and four don’t exist, and five is masking.
I have my own theory on this. If you mask and still get scratches, well, that’s just my way.
Usually if you mask properly, you’re fine, but sometimes you do end up with damage. In those cases, it’s usually because the original paint or finish on the part itself was already deteriorated. No matter what you do, if something gets bumped even slightly, it’ll scratch—there’s nothing you can do about that.
When everything is decades old like this, you have to be very careful and proceed cautiously or things get dangerous.
Now I can ride with peace of mind. I deliberately left the stickers as they were.
Before delivery, I’ll charge the battery fully.
Polishing the terminals too gives you peace of mind. Polishing the cable side as well makes it perfect. After that, it’s a test ride and we’re done!
