Display what should be displayed, hide what should be hidden. It’s surprisingly important. And if you can make cleaning easier, that’s perfect.
I’ve been thinking for about half a year now about displaying items that are hard to store. Finally, I got the motivation to tackle this project. Using the classic pegboard method, I installed it on the wall and it turned out great.
Today’s Garage DIY & Handy Tips
Materials:
Steel Pegboard (Durable perforated board that works with magnets too)
3M CLAW (High-load-capacity hook for drywall)
Challenge: I wanted to secure a heavy steel board to the wall, but there were no studs in convenient locations.
Solution: Install the “3M CLAW” – which can support over 10kg when pushed directly into drywall – on the wall, then hang the board from it.
Result: No power tools needed – it’s rock solid. And best of all, you can easily **remove it** by lifting it up, creating a wall storage solution that’s **removable**!

It’s really helpful to have various sizes available. As shown in the image, I’ve bent it to create depth, so installation is straightforward as-is. *No need to space it away from the mounting surface.
Note that pegboards can differ in hole diameter, pitch, and shape. Domestic standards typically use a 25mm pitch with 5mm diameter holes. *If it’s 30mm pitch or has square holes, hook compatibility becomes limited and requires careful attention.
This is a drywall hook that 3M stands behind with confidence. Some models can support up to 30kg when hung vertically – incredible, right?
Sure, it’s a bit pricey, but when you think about it – “removable when you get tired of it, easy installation, no fear of mistakes” – it’s actually affordable. Basically, you don’t want to drill holes in drywall anyway.
Position it and push with your finger to insert. No drilling required, so it’s incredibly easy.
To remove it, just slide a scraper into the gap and pry it out gently. This means repositioning the pegboard is also a breeze.
You can work without fear of mistakes.

I roughly leveled it and used masking tape to mark the installation positions. Then it’s just a matter of pushing them in – super easy. Installation takes less than 10 minutes once you hang the pegboard on these hooks.
This is what it looks like when mounted. Since it’s just hanging on the hooks, removal is super easy too.
You need to think about cleaning the back, so organize your items accordingly.
Just a heads up – a bit of the hardware will be visible.

Once you discover the expandability of pegboards, it’s surprisingly fun (*´ω｀*)
Japanese people naturally love organization, so it makes sense why this catches on. I have a feeling this will make the area around my lathe much more convenient. I’ve done a lot of research on pegboards this time, so I’m planning to expand and customize further.
Garage DIY Hack: Mounting a Steel Pegboard with 3M CLAW.
Issue: I wanted to install a heavy steel pegboard (punching board) on the wall to organize my tools, but finding wall studs is always a hassle. Solution: I used the 3M CLAW drywall picture hangers. These incredible hangers simply push into the plasterboard without tools and can hold a massive amount of weight. Result: I rigged the steel board to hang securely on the CLAW hooks. Not only is it incredibly strong, but the board is also easily removable for cleaning or repositioning. A highly recommended storage hack!
