About 30km and 40 minutes from home—a nearby spot. I’m constantly patrolling Chiba on Google Maps for places I want to visit.
When the weather is nice, I just hop on the bike! It would be a waste not to ride when I have such a convenient environment.
I moved to Chiba precisely to do things like this.

I went to see the terrifying cliff.

The GPZ550 I haven’t ridden in so long I’ve almost forgotten about it.

I actually like this bike quite a bit, but the engine feeling doesn’t excite me much.
Sure, it revs well, but I wish it had more punch and vigor.

It feels a bit Honda-like—well-engineered but lacking character.
It’s easy to ride and gets the job done, but I’m a contrarian by nature.

Despite barely starting the engine, the battery is still strong. That’s a quality battery for you.

Tsurishi Beach Legend: The Landing Place of the Seventy-Five Deities

1. Who landed here?

According to legend, long ago, a ship carrying the divine spirit (Tamayorihime no Mikoto) drifted ashore at Tōnami Beach. To protect Tamayorihime no Mikoto, 75 deitiesaccompanied her, according to the tale.

• Tamayorihime no Mikoto: The principal deity of Tamasaki Shrine, the first-ranked shrine of Kazusa Province.
• Seventy-Five Deities: A group of deities comprising her family, retainers, and guardians.

2. Why “Seventy-Five”?

In ancient Japanese belief, the number “75” is a symbolic number often used to represent a very large number or a “complete group.” In this region, it’s said that the 75 deities who drifted ashore scattered throughout the surrounding villages and were enshrined there. Even today, small shrines and temples related to the “Seventy-Five Shrines” are scattered around the Ichinomiya area.

3. Connection to the “Kazusa Twelve Shrine Festival”

This legend is the origin of the famous **”Kazusa Twelve Shrine Festival (Kōzuke Jūni-sha Matsuri)”** held every September.

• Also called the “Naked Festival,” the portable shrines from each shrine converge at this “landing place (Tsurishi Beach).”
• This is based on the story that the scattered family of deities (descendants of the 75 deities) reunite once a year under their mother goddess Tamayorihime no Mikoto to celebrate their reunion.

4. Significance as a Location

The monument inscribed “Landing Place of the Seventy-Five Deities” stands near **Tsurishi Beach (Shidashita)**, also known as a surfing mecca. Even today, a torii gate marks this as a sacred place, carefully preserved by local residents.

Wow—those cliffs are terrifying.

In Tokyo, a place this dangerous without a fence would be a major issue. Chiba has an incredible number of hazardous spots.
Maybe Chiba is cultivating a spirit of self-reliance and personal responsibility.

People have been approaching me a lot lately. “What a cool bike!” or “Can I take a photo?”
An old guy struggling in a squat position gets people’s attention.

Youth aren’t dead—they still have the kindness to reach out.
That’s what I’ve been feeling lately (‘Д’)

Riding a bike in my new home and savoring life a little more.

Living in the countryside is like living at a touring destination. No need to wake up early or worry about traffic on the way back.
Oh! The weather’s nice!

Let me just ride for 1-2 hours during this perfect window!
That’s what’s possible here. If you have choices in life, I think it’s worth trying different things.
I have plenty of regrets about things I should have done back then.

But I keep making “so-so choices” without major failures.
Maybe that’s a strength of mine? “Mediocre decisions” I often tell people that even if

life is tiring, sure, but

Urban areas really don’t have much spare time, but
why not adjust your schedule and take a bike ride once a month?

I rarely come on weekends. I was surprised at how many people there were on a weekend compared to weekdays. The bike parking lot was full and overflowing.

There’s sometimes a crepe food truck, but unfortunately it wasn’t here today. There’s a food truck selling ramen for 500 yen, so I thought I’d grab a bite, but when I peeked in…
Oh! The cook is from overseas… *not racial discrimination.

U-JACK Promoting Camping in Mutsuzawa

Camping popularity may be waning, but it still seems quite active. With so much nature around, I hope people enjoy it wisely.

SHOEI Gram Star is light and great.

Wind buffeting and noise are present but totally manageable. You shouldn’t compare it to overseas helmets or top-tier touring helmets.


Since it’s something you wear, I think it’s important to care about design, how it looks on you, and the satisfaction of ownership.
Being able to obsess over gear like this is part of what makes biking fun, even if it costs money.
