Well, good morning. Today is June 26th. I’ve been writing on the blog since this morning.
I also need to prepare for visitors who are coming to hang out, including work. Most of all, “We don’t have enough cups” I can’t shake that feeling. . . . I’m thinking a bit about whether to make those disposable or not.
And then there’s the chair situation… what should we do? And worries just keep piling up. That’s the kind of vibe—I ride sometimes—and I’m updating the blog today too.
I got pretty lost. . . . I wandered around not knowing where the entrance was, even going to the side of this garage.
Looking very carefully, I realized, oh, this must be the entrance. . .
Apparently it was a garage directly imported from America back then. At first I thought it was some kind of “heavy snow spec” garage from Kakuichi or something, but that’s not it.
Even just looking at a garage like this, foreign-made stuff really does have that designed feel, you know. . . .
The ocean is right there, so you can walk and enjoy the view. No matter where you go, it’s really such a fun place.
Anyway, it’s so hot that I’ve basically gone almost completely buzzed. More like a buzz cut—I asked for a pretty bold, individual look.
I mean, barber shops in Chiba are crazy reasonable, you know. . . . It feels like about half the price of Tokyo. . . .
And on the way back, this old guy parks his bike on the farm road next to the rice paddies and takes photos. . . . Hehe! The weather’s great today and the bike looks awesome!
I’m spending such fun times.

I thought the design and interior were really well done, and it turns out it’s a franchise. Ah, that makes sense! That’s why it clicked!
Unlike Tokyo, you don’t need to wait in line to eat crepes here. If you want a crepe with real punch, this is the place! I thought.
Next time I’ll have to get someone to buy me one with rock-paper-scissors. . . .
I was kind of moved by the technique of converting part of an old farmhouse into a shop-like space. On Instagram, you can only see the blue storefront part, so I was a bit surprised seeing it in person. By the way, they also have non-sweet crepes, so I recommend them. Though I’ve only been once, so. . .
Down an extremely narrow road is ACOUSTIC Bread and Coffee
I remembered! It’s near that curry place! I realized while riding. As you head toward this bakery, the road gets narrower and narrower until it’s basically a private road. The narrow road itself isn’t really a problem, but it’s “two-way traffic.”
Somehow I feel like “the bigger vehicle has priority” but surprisingly even light cars don’t yield. Since coming to Chiba, I’ve been yielding on the road constantly. . .
They do beekeeping and have that impressive Swiss stacking of firewood that doesn’t collapse—I really admire that. But environmentally it’s much more nature-oriented than my place, so I’m not quite confident I could do it yet.
Oh, and about the bread— they use “homemade natural starter” and bake it in a wood-fired oven, a real gem. It’s firm, fragrant, and truly delicious bread. Going by bike to buy it seems a bit tough.
There’s an amazing cafe up in the mountains in a converted abandoned school
I stopped by here on the way back from the bakery by car, but it’s in quite a challenging location. Mountain winding roads aren’t a problem at all for me, but. . . . it’s “basically two-way traffic” so it’s a bit tiring.
Still, being up in the mountains, it’s such a space with no one around—it’s the best. * By the way, we were the only customers
The renovation is done so well you’d never guess it was originally an elementary school. If a place like this existed in Tokyo, it would definitely become a popular spot.
Even though it’s in the mountains, the elevation isn’t that high, but the breeze flows through and it feels amazing.
I really think we’re living in such a great age. Without social media and such, there’s no way you could attract customers. Since moving here, I’ve realized “there are a lot of migrants with urban sensibilities”
If you can attract customers through social media and such, many places operate on a “three-days-a-week basis” and make their living through wholesale and retail. Reducing work hours in a spacious, good environment and increasing your meaningful personal time— I think that’s a really important way to live.
What? Neapolitan. . . I came to eat lunch but had no options, so I chose Neapolitan. Honestly, I had zero expectations, but. . . . “It’s really delicious!” I was pretty shocked. . . . When you visit, definitely order the Neapolitan.
This old guy couldn’t stop at just Neapolitan, so I added dessert too. My favorite hard-style pudding with whipped cream on top—it’s just the best.
When you visit Yamadori Coffee, definitely get the Neapolitan and pudding.
Seriously, no matter where you go, there’s no one around. . . . There seem to be quite a few high-quality cafes scattered about.
Since I can’t drink alcohol while driving, I don’t eat out much, but there might be a lot of places like that if I looked. Even if it’s a decent distance, “the roads are basically empty” so it doesn’t take that long to get there. It feels like a 30 km radius is basically my local area. And searching Google Maps for shops I want to visit is really fun too.
I’m 50 years old this year. When I do the math on the time left to do what I want, it feels like there’s not much left. Honestly, I don’t think I could do the same things after I turn 60. . . . Even if I could, it would be much harder.
If you’re thinking, “I kind of want to move somewhere,” I think it’s worth trying to make it happen. That’s all for now—I’ll post again soon.
