“Popular Surge? Oil-Cooled” Inazuma 1200 Inspection Yoshimura ST-1 Cam Rear Disc 220φ Conversion Aluminum Torque Rod Swingarm OH Muffler Repainting

Today I’m installing the Yoshimura ST-1 cam (*´ω`*)

High cams seem like they have a high barrier to entryor so you might think…
But with an oil-cooled 1200“This is what an oil-cooled 1200 STD should feel like”is the feeling you’ll get.
A smooth, responsive feel from low to high RPMs.

With the STD, the low end is decent enoughbut when you raise the RPMs, they don’t sync with vehicle speed
The engine is spinning but the bike feels sluggish.
With this cam, it goes whoosh! Whoosh! *Company comparison

The Inazuma 1200 also has poor serviceability

The coil is fixed from below (with aluminum spacers too)
If the bolts slide in smoothly, that’s great, but usually they’re stiff and tedious.
*My Inazuma 1200 has the carburetor modified, so I’ve changed it to top-side fixing.

I hate flat ratchets so much that I went out of my way to buy one because it’s that tedious.

Let’s quickly remove the stock cam

With oil-cooled engines, the cam chain doesn’t pass under the crankshaft even when the cam is removed, so it’s safe if it drops.

I prefer to keep my hands out of it
because it gets dirty and you can cut yourself. I try to keep my distance…distance…

My hands smell like Motul and it stinks…
The inside of the head is clean. There was no cam scuffing either.

Apparently it had some kind of Morshot treatment applied (*´ω`*)

All of it. It apparently cost quite a bit…Awesome

We’re also replacing the cam chain tensioner (front only)

It’s gotten quite stiff.
The rear ▲ can be replaced“rear slider body”is fixed to the case.
In this state it cannot be replaced, so please note

Time flows on….

If you don’t take valve timingit finishes while you’re waitinglevel.
Taking valve timing isn’t that much workbut there are many installation confirmation itemsright?

The cam sprocket has elongated holes for adjustment.

One special tool, two special tools and we’re progressing smoothly

Piston top “Zubo-kun”
Just dial set and lock – no uncertainty…probably.

The Yoshimura timing is extended“Don’t remove anything at all spec”
If you don’t extend it, you have to remove the oil pressure switch and other hassles increase.
I want to minimize trouble as much as possible…

With wire“Did I touch it? Did I hit it?”you think and then you have to set TDC again.
With an arm, if you tighten it down, you can be confident.

And time flows on again

Quickly adjusted and complete.
Check once, check twice.

We also replaced the signal generator with one from a different Inazuma 1200 and advanced the ignition timing.

For the high-bo chainthe first time, it’s good to adjust by hand pressing with bolts etc.If you adjust while watching the play between the crankshaft and chain, you can finish by hand
*Reliable
