Running into all sorts of parts issues with this old bike (；∀；)
Work almost never goes as planned—100% probability of complications.
Discontinued parts, broken pieces, mysterious components… there’s always something.
You have to disassemble slowly and carefully or you’ll end up in hell pretty quick.
Let’s take our time.
I really wanted tandem steps~
So this is what I ended up with (*´ω｀*)
It’s sturdy, but it’s more of a “light touch” kind of thing.
Don’t put your full weight on it.
Factory parts really are amazing…
The right side is U-shaped with a trendy slight offset. (It’s an angle thing.)
Now we can do proper tandem rides~♪ This one’s clear.
Removing the carbs! (Super stuck)
Hmm… it’s not budging easily… it’s locked down tight.
From my experience, “forcing it will break or crack it.”
Whether it’s the head cover, carbs, or something else… anything’s possible.
I want to pry it loose but I can’t~♪
I’ll have to apply some tension, warm it up, and gently work it… that’s all I can do.
Thanks to being gentle, I managed to get it off.
Ugh… it’s dirty…
But I have a bad feeling about taking all of this apart…
Since it’s running, I’ll proceed without disassembling the four-carb setup.
Back in the day, we’d just spray it with carb cleaner and call it done.
But tools have gotten better,
and the world has gotten much better at cleaning carburetors
over the last 10-15 years or so.
Tools and equipment have really changed dramatically.
I’ll make sure the finished parts shine bright~
