The fuel sensor (cap only) is leaking that distinctive smell from around this area.

You should really keep these kinds of gaskets on hand…
In a pinch you can substitute paper gaskets, but it’s tedious.
Always keep rubber parts in stock. It’s important.
I’ll install our rust removal cap (for outsourcing) and let it sit…

This fuel sensor plate was subtly“deformed + gasket deterioration”
gradually seeping.
I made the plate from earlier for the shop.
It’s a mysterious plate that K-san gave me long ago, supposedly 7075 aluminum, T=3MM.
The Suzuki fuel sensor holes aren’t evenly spaced, so making it properly is tedious.
Then I installed it, laid it down again, and let it sit to check…
It seems to be holding up. From tomorrow on, no more smell…
