Cast iron really does clean up nicely when you polish it.
Cleaning three calipers. Lately I’ve been using hot steam to blast them clean. They come out spotless in no time. Applying rust prevention after cleaning really helps the calipers last longer.
The piston action was smooth.
The disc holes don’t get cleaned very often, so they came out nice and shiny.
Pretty dusty. After wiping, the brakes don’t work at all, so you need to cycle through HOT-COLD repeatedly to bed them in.
The distance collar position looks good. The bearings should be fine too.
Front is 0. Rear is 5/100. I’ve seen a lot of bikes, but it seems like big displacement engines put a lot of stress on the rear tire.
Chain gets a good wipe down. Then oiled.
Fork gets cleaned and oiled. The area between the top and stem also gets cleaned and rust-proofed.
Coolant swap and we’re done. The cap was replaced last year, so we reused it.
