We recommend wheel bearing maintenance every 20,000 to 30,000 kilometers or so. They’ll keep working even if you skip it, and they rarely get loose and rattly unless something goes seriously wrong.

These three things make a real difference in how smoothly the wheels roll.
That’s Honda for you. The hub bearings are double-row.
It’s a good idea to measure the distance collar too, so everything stays safe after reassembly.
The wheel bearing oil seal is working great right from the start.
That’s different from Suzuki. This seal isn’t there to stop something from leaking out. When the seal moves smoothly, you get even a 1% improvement in rolling. If it’s stiff, it’ll eventually wear down (seal wear, collar wear), it takes time, and there’s no upside to it.
Replace the hub damper if it gets loose.

Of course, that’s easier on the transmission and chain too.
I gave it a light polish and cleaned it up. A bike is always best when it’s clean after service.
