Once you start paying attention to bolts and brackets, you’ll naturally develop your own style and personality.
We roughly sketch out the layout with welding rod, then bend stainless steel round bar using a press.
There are rules to bending. There’s a minimum pitch and maximum leg length that can be bent. We pay attention to keep things loose enough to allow some flexibility.
We skip the plates and collars. Weld it and we’re done. We’re running low on argon, so we’ve been stingy and it’s pretty scorched.
After removing the burn marks and polishing, it’s complete. Parts that don’t shout for attention look clean and good.
It went together cleanly like this. For long-time customers, we do custom work. I’ll say it again: we’re not a custom shop, so I think having a shop that specializes in this kind of work do it will get you faster and higher quality results.
We weren’t asked, but we went ahead and did a little custom work anyway.
I’ve always wondered why the screws under the screen aren’t fasteners. There aren’t many GSX1100S out there, so we’ve been putting it off, but what do you think?
I think it would be fine to make them all fasteners.
