Let’s install the upper cowl.
Should we build it from scratch or adapt the original parts? It’s always a tough call.
This time I went with adapting the original. Honestly, it should have been easier, but it wasn’t.
I really like how the original fitment looks.
The light bracket is narrow and the cowl interior is wide. For now I’m adding material on both sides where needed in the straight sections. I cut away the outer edges.
On the lower side, I’ve positioned and fixed it.
The meter was hitting it, so I thought I’d cut it with an air saw, but it’s plastic? That’s unusual.
And now the turn signal is hitting it too.
Next I’ll cut out three mounting brackets from the cowl, weld them, and secure them with fasteners and we should be good.
I really wish I had a dream bender for custom fabrication.
