Today’s weather is beautiful and mild. There’s no wind, and the outside temperature has warmed up nicely.
With lots of intake and delivery work today, we’re starting round two of bolt removal work in between jobs.
Three-piece nuts are welded in place.
I was hoping maybe one bolt would come loose, but that was wishful thinking—it broke as expected.
In the end, we carefully drilled out both locations and installed helicoils to resolve the issue.
Since we had to drill carefully for safety, it ended up being a full-day job. We’ve completed the repair beautifully, so all that’s left is the inspection and oil-cooled maintenance to finish up.
