Since there was corrosion and grime, we gave it a bit of a cosmetic refresh.
It’s a fresh look in the details.
The inner tube rust is still pretty bad. We cleaned it up anyway.
It’s got a nice moderate amount of grime.

So why Le Creuset, you ask?
Of course it looks great sitting there,
but since we use hot water, cast iron has excellent heat retention.
You can use one batch of hot water for a long time, so you can wash thoroughly for longer.
If the iron piston is rusted, replacement is better.
Polishing will remove the rust for now, but the plating gets thinner, which means it rusts more easily.
This caliper has different pistons on the right and left,
so we absolutely have to inspect the piston and seal.
